DC218 is the official DEF CON Group for Duluth, Minnesota and the greater Lake Superior region. We are a community of security professionals, researchers, hackers, and curious minds meeting to share knowledge, break things, and build a stronger infosec scene in the Northland.

DEF CON Groups are the grassroots arm of DEF CON — the world's largest hacker conference. DC218 brings that culture home to the Twin Ports. Whether you're a seasoned pen tester or just picked up your first Raspberry Pi, you belong here.

Got something to say? We want to hear it. DC218 runs a rotating speaker series — 20 to 40 minute talks on anything in the security / hacking / privacy / hardware space. No suits required.

SUBMIT A TALK

Topics we love: vulnerability research, red/blue team war stories, malware analysis, OSINT techniques, hardware hacking, privacy tools, lock sport, CTF writeups, social engineering, radio hacking, anything weird.

Topics we do not love: vendor pitches, product demos masquerading as research, talks with 80 slides of marketing copy.

Code of Conduct

DC218 follows the DEF CON Groups Code of Conduct. Short version: be excellent to each other. Long version:

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. Zero exceptions.
Consent is required before touching anyone's hardware. Or anyone.
Do not attack infrastructure that does not belong to you — including venue Wi-Fi.
Photograph with permission. Some attendees prefer to remain pseudonymous.
Share knowledge freely. Gatekeeping is the enemy of the scene.
Leave the space better than you found it.
Violations are handled by group leadership. Repeat violations = ban.

This is a community built on trust. Don't waste it.
